Cast and Blast

Fly fishing season is still here.  That doesn't mean stuff your shotgun away in the corner for the summer.  Now is the time to stay sharp and have some fun.  At Glendorn we shoot clays year around. Summer is comfortable and a fun time of year to shoot.  Run a round of sporting in the morning then cast a line in the afternoon.  Sounds like my kind of day.  See you on the range.

The Grannoms are Coming

May not only means leek picking, Trout Lillie's blooming and summer like warm days.  May also marks the emergence of one of Trouts main food sources, Caddisflied.  Every year right around Mothers Day, the famous bright green, Candy Apple Caddis, AKA Grannoms, flood the air like snowfall bringinging the rivers trout to the surface to feed.

Cold water and active fish

Looks like another great spring for fly fishing at Glendorn.  Winters icy grip has left our rivers, lakes and streams running on the cold side for this time of year.  Yesterday the river was a cool 48F!  With the cool temperatures it hasn't slowed the seasonal hatches of caddis and mayflies down, with Quill Gordon's, Hendricksons, BWOs and Little Black Grannoms showing up daily.  To sum it all up The Clarion River, Glendorns Spring Creek property and all the water at the lodge is fishing excellent.  We can't wait to show you where the big ones hide.

Stillwater Action

The Glendorn property lake and pond fishing is red hot!  Most fish are being taken sub surface with some afternoon midge dry fly fishing taking place too.  Some guests are reporting catches of 50+ fish an outing.  Our guides are busy netting doubles and even triples.  New to fly fishing, no problem.  Long casts aren't necessary with fish cruising close to the banks.  Conditions will stay the same for weeks ahead.  See you lakeside.

April Showers

Warm rain will melt the cold snow and bring the rivers water temperatures up.  As we move into mid and late April hatches of mayflies will fill the skies, bringing trout to the surface to feed.  It's about time to escape to Glendorn for a weekend of fly fishing fun.
