Fall Drifts to Winter

The last of the Fall's colorful leaves have fallen away from the trees. With the arrival of Winter comes the anticipation of the holiday season and all that it brings to Glendorn. From our family-style Thanksgiving Dinner to traditional Holiday Afternoon Tea Services to a New Year's Eve Celebration complete with fireworks and champagne toast.

We are very excited about our winter activities including curling on Skipper Lake, snowmobiling through the Allegheny National Forest, and snowshoeing to the Hideout for a cozy fireside lunch. Winter at Glendorn is full of fun pastimes for the entire family, and also quiet moments that are perfect for curling up with a book by the warm fire in the comforts of your private cabin or doing a Par Puzzle in the Glendorn Library with a glass of cabernet.

Whether your winter escape involves a romantic getaway for two or a family vacation, Glendorn is the perfect destination.

October!

October 21, 2010

As fall nears to a close and with Halloween just a little over a week away, we see the remaining dabbles of fall color clinging to the trees and feel a crisp coolness settling into the air around us.
We look to the season ahead, Winter, and all that it brings to Glendorn.
Our Activities Team prepares for both hunting and steelhead fishing seasons, as well as all of the many other activities available to guests. The tree stands are in place, the cross country skiing equipment is trickling in and we’ve even tested the Mattracks on the Jeep.
The Culinary Team celebrates the release of the two Relais & Chateaux cookbooks, 85 Inspirational Chefs and Chefs at Home, which feature recipes from Glendorn’s very own Chef Joe Schafer. We have copies available in the Orvis store.
Around property we have completed the renovation of the Playhouse Conference Center and Loft and Overlook Cabins.

Upcoming Events:
Pumpkin Carving Contest Saturday, October 30
Fall Orvis Days Saturday, November 13
Thanksgiving Dinner Thursday, November 25
Holiday Teas Sunday, December 5 – Sunday, December 19

Horseback riding at Glendorn has become one of the guests favorite activities to explore the property. Each morning and afternoon guests are encouraged to take trail rides leaving the newly renovated stables area with a great new tack room.
Tanya greets each guest, talks you through some instruction and everyone saddles up for the ride meandering through the trails and scenery of Glendorns hardwood forest.
