Spring has sprung! Not only does Glendorn have fantastic fly fishing the hiking and horseback riding through our hardwood forests offer great views of the scenic hills of North Western Pennsylvania. The wildflowers are at full bloom on our trails including swamp marigold, red trillium, white trillium, violets and many other varieties. Activities Director, Shane Appleby and Equestrian Director Tanya Okerlund are ready to suggest a great trail for flora and fauna seeking hikers and horseback riders. With the May showers we've been having your sure to see some beautiful June flowers. We look forward to seeing you soon.

Orvis Guide Rendezvous

Our activities staff just attended the Orvis Endorsed Guide Rendezvous at Orvis’s Sandanona shooting facility in Millbrook, N.Y. It was a great time to connect and network with other guides from our region and product developers from Orvis. We got to see all the new products that are coming out this year and they will be available soon. We had the opportunity to cast the new Superfine Touch rods and they did not disappoint. They are going to be a great addition to Orvis’s small stream rod selection. Another product coming out is the new line of Safe Passage Fishing Packs. They seem to be really well constructed with the anglers needs in mind. We already have some of them in stock in our Fuller Brook Outfitters store. Also, for all of you iPhone users, there is a line of Trout Skin iPhone cases now. They come in brown, brook, and rainbow trout colors. They are a perfect way to dress up that plain phone look and will let everyone else know that you would rather be fishing!

This spring, we’ll reveal the latest upgrade to our facilities. The estate’s dated kitchen has received a complete overhaul. The challenge was to create better efficiency within the existing space that was practical to meet the everyday requirements and bring a better flow to the kitchen. The work involved was massive: floors, ceilings and walls were removed and replaced and brand new equipment was installed and commissioned within an incredibly tight schedule. See more of our kitchen project at www.facebook.com/thelodgeatglendorn.com The kitchen renovation demonstrates the commitment by the resort’s owner to continually enhance the facilities, service and overall guest experience. The project, a very personal one for Executive Chef Joseph Schafer, allows the restaurant to reach its fullest potential as an unparalleled dining venue. We’re introducing a new, seasonal four course prix fixe menu, and featuring our chef’s tasting menu and wine pairing each evening. We’ve also adapted the pricing of the menu’s to be more proactive to our guests needs and demands, for example, a lighter fare lunch menu priced a la carte. “We are very excited about the new features we can offer our guests,” says Schafer, “including kitchen tours, cooking classes and food and wine events.”
